My Mobile Blogging & Internet Marketing Setup

Location Mobility with a Mobile Internet Marketing Kit

by Scott Frye on August 29, 2012

In order to be able to be location independent and work from anywhere there are a couple key devices that I use. I’ve worked everywhere from an 8000 foot Alpine meadow in Yellowstone, to beach-side on the east coast.  I took the picture above while camping along the banks of one of the best trout fishing rivers in the US.  Wake up, fish, then have breakfast, do a little work, go fishing, and repeat! :)   The office is wherever I am, and all I need are a few pieces of tech.  Admittedly, I’m an early adopter and gadget fiend, but I’ve tried a lot of different options out there, and these few items are what I now use, and have been road proven over the last 4 months.

Smartphone

The first, and hub of everything is my Droid Bionic. This operates as a connection point for my internet service as a mobile hotspot and also can be used for posting, and very minor web work.

Marketing in the Longtail Episode 3

Marketing in the Longtail Adsense Optimization

by Scott Frye on August 17, 2012

In the latest episode I discuss something that I discovered after the launch of my new WordPress Plugin called ClickBomb Defense. Now i’m not promoting this in this episode, but I’ve discovered that alot of people are using themes that may be putting their adsense accounts at risk.

There was a time when aggressive Adsense ad placement was allowed, but today, if you even look like an MFA (made for adsense) site then you will get banned, its just a matter of time.

I also discuss the ad placements that are bringing in most of my revenue, and why these placements are so critical.

Check out the podcast for more of my thoughts on this.

I’m adding this because I searched for it yesterday, and no-one had made it public yet. I thought I could save all the developers out there some time when they are starting a clickbank notification script.

Clickbank has the option to provide a URL that they will notify everytime there is a transaction on your account.  The following MySQL database is designed from the information that they provide to hold the data that is transmitted from clickbank.

This is a MySQL database that will hold the ClickBank Instant Notifications when they are recieved by your scripts. In the future I may also put in the PHP code I’m using to process transactions to keep track of sales, refunds, who can download a new version of the product etc. In the meantime here is the Clickbank Instant Notification Database Table for Instant Notifications v2.1

iMacros Vrs Ubot Studio Comparison

Ubot vrs Imacros - Web Automation Comparison

by Scott Frye on August 16, 2012

If you are not automating, then chances are you are probably wasting your time on some menial tasks.

When you get into web automation, there are basically two products that are worth considering for most of your tasks. In this post I’m going to go over my experience with the two, and discuss which one I think is better.

iMacros has two different versions. One is a free extension for mozilla firefox. But the Scripting Edition of iMacros is a $499 dollar product that has a few more options. I will only be discussing the Free version in this post. The full version is far more expensive, and less powerful than Ubot Studio, so there really isn’t any comparison there. Instead this post will focus on the differences between the Free version of iOpus’ Imacros, because although it is not anywhere near as powerful as Ubot Studio, it is Free, and therefore is a great tool for people just starting out.

Ease of use

iMacros is slightly easier to get started using the first time than Ubot is.  It allows you to “record” what you are doing in your browser, and therefore for simple operations like logging into your email account, and performing some action, you can have a script up and running in just minutes.  Ubot though, is not difficult to use, and can perform any action that Imacros can, and many more.

Automation: Make your own bots with UBot

Ubot Studio Review

by Scott Frye on August 15, 2012

As you probably know by now, I believe that the key to success in internet marketing is automation of repetitive tasks.  If you are spending all of your time creating hosting accounts in cpanel, or collecting content from different websites, then you won’t have the time to do anything with that content, or worse, you will get discouraged from the herculean task you have infront of you, and never complete the project.

To solve this problem, I use Ubot Studio for everything from hosting account creation to web scraping.  The links in this post are affiliate links, but like any product that I link to, it is something that I really believe in, and use daily.

You might think that creating bots would be difficult, and for really advanced bots, that is probably the case.   But to automate many of the tasks that you do regularly, or wish you could do regularly, it is probably pretty easy.

Get a free start on your internet marketing business

by Scott Frye on August 10, 2012

I often have people tell me that they just don’t have enough cash to invest in becoming an internet marketer, and getting their websites started. There really are alot of ways that you can make it almost free though. It really doesn’t cost much to get started in internet marketing, but if you are running a little low on funds, or you have a new tool like Tweet Adder that you want to purchase, a great way to do that is by selling some of the stuff that you have hanging around.

Reduce some of your regular expenses

If you eliminate Starbucks from your daily routine for one month, and brew your own coffee instead, you would definitely have enough to get started, but many people wouldn’t want to do that.

If you started taking your lunch to work, rather than getting takeout everyday, you could not only eat better, but also save 6-10 dollars a day depending on how much your lunches cost.

What other things do you spend money on regularly, that you could eliminate?

As I write this post, I’m sitting, looking out over the Atlantic ocean.  I’m on a beach in Assateague National Park, in a pretty private area.  Only 145 vehicles are allowed into this 20 mile section of beach every day, and it seems like most of them clump together at the start, so we actually can’t see another vehicle or person around us for as far as the eye can see.

Sounds like a really cool vacation right?  Well, this is my work week.  I’m location independent.  I’ve got my laptop out, and I’m taking care of a few emails that I need to return, and writing content for a couple sites, and this blog.  It doesn’t feel like work, but what I’m doing will earn me money on a few different websites a few months from now.  All while lounging on the beach!  That’s what Location Independence is all about.  Being where you want, not stuck in a cubicle in some big office building somewhere.

What I learned after being banned from Adsense

July 27, 2012 Adsense Income

Banned from AdsenseThis post is going to be a little different than some of my others, it is more going to be a set of lessons, or takeaways from my experience of having 1 of my adsense accounts shut down. This was a horrible experience, and I hope that I never have it happen again.

  1. Make sure that you have multiple adsense accounts.  This is the most important of my rules. Thank god that when my account was shut down, it was only 1 of 3 accounts that I had at that time, and that all my earnings were not cut off.  It still really hurt, and I figure that I lost about $4,500 from that one account shutdown  because of 3 months of lost income. For info on legally opening multiple accounts, check out my info on opening multiple adsense accounts.
  2. Create sites that DO NOT look like “MFA” or Made For Adsense” websites.  If you only have 5 pages, its time to expand that to 10. Not only will you rank better for more long-tails, but it will make your site more usefull, and less likely to fail a manual review.
